Last year’s ”Shirt Off Your Back” Gala, A Masked Venetian Ball, was held on October 31st, Halloween night, at The Rittenhouse in Center City Philadelphia.  The Gala has historically been recognized as Philadelphia’s most exclusive and high profile fund-raising effort. The Philadelphia Inquirer has said that the SOYB (Shirt Off Your Back) Gala is the “Party with a Purpose, one of the high points of the fall social calendar.”   This year, the Gala retuns to The Rittenhouse on Friday, October 2, 2009.   The 2008 Gala was co-chaired by Rema Giordano, of  The Rittenhouse, and...

Dear Fabulous Community of So You’re EnGAYged; After months of sharing my wedding planning story with you, the time has come for me to say farewell. I have reached the end of my wedding planning process and recaps, all of which I hope you have enjoyed! I also hope that along the way some of my advice and experiences have helped you in your wedding planning process. Planning a wedding is an amazingly rewarding experience full of ups and downs, surprises, and even, (at times) frustration. I pray that my posts have helped you to see all of those things, to be excited for them, and for some of t...

  • Stephanie and Brian are people I love to be around. They are smart and real and I sense that they enjoy both the simple things in life, and also the complex things without making too much fuss.  They have a huge heart, and their pup Barkley gets a lot of lovin! Since Stephanie and Brian are getting married at Sakonnet Vineyard in Little Compton RI in May, we decided to meet up there and do some photos together (and taste some of the wonderful wine selections). I’m basically in love with that last image. Just a tiny sliver of happiness from two amazing individuals. Best of all, Stephanie...

Hi there! My name is Brian and I’m engayged!I was raised in a very small, southern town called Yadkinville, in the tobacco state of North Carolina. Aching to experience a new way of life, I decided to make a big ole’ leap from “The Town of Progress” to “The Big Apple” at eighteen years of age. During college in 2000, I took a job as a waiter at a NYC theme restaurant called Jekyll and Hyde where I met my future husband-to-be. On Cinco De Mayo in 2001, we decided to start going steady. Eight years later in 2009, we became domestic partners in the state of NY on St. Patrick’s Day. ...

One of my summer grooms just posted his slideshow to You Tube. Check it out!http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jMPFFFj4wwkThere's a ton of really great shots--especially details halfway in. You'll notice there are a ton of kissing shots. The DJ pulled names out of a hat and brought couples on to the dance floor. Each couple kissed in their own unique way:) and Elaine and Brian had to replicate it. It was hilarious! All of these images are courtesy and copyright of the incredibly talented Stan and Jeanette of Trailbrook Photography. The wedding took place at the Immaculata and Loews Resort in Corona...

The arrival of June brings with it one of the swankiest galas in town, The Ball on the Square, a gala for 300+ benefiting the Friends of Rittenhouse Square. A non-profit organization established in 1976, the Friends provide the financial support for the preservation, protection and beautification of the historic six-acre Rittenhouse Square Park. As usual, the black tie gala will take place in a large tent placed right in the middle of the Square. In fact, it’s actually quite a clever feat of event planning because the tent will be installed on top of the existing fountains, with poles and ...
