To Save the Date, or to Not Save the Date that is the question! As I was designing these new colorful save the date cards I thought, many times when I speak with a new bride-to-be on the phone they ask this question. Let me start by saying save the date cards are used to tell your guests to “Save the Date” for your wedding day or weekend. Pretty simple, right!? Personally, I say just send out your wedding invitations early if you need a response earlier than the norm (1 month before wedding in the USA). Then YOU save money. Sometimes guests need an entire year to plan for travel expenses... |
We’re in the middle of designing (with the help of a graphic designer friend) our Save the Date post cards. When we got engaged, I read all of the “rules” on save the dates, i.e. originally intended for destination weddings, to be sent out 6 months in advance. We’re not exactly having a destination wedding (we live in NYC, and are getting married in Madison, WI—and I wouldn’t call Wisconsin in October a destination…) but since many of our friends and family would be traveling, we decided that we were going to “Save the Date”. Part of me didn’t want to waste the paper, beca... |
During the winter months of December through February we experience the excitement of the holidays, New Years and Valentine’s Day. We share love, joy and happiness with one another and it’s the most popular time of year for engagements which leads to summer and fall weddings. With the wedding being so far away, you may ask yourself, “What do I do now?” The best piece to send out to let your friends and family know the great news is a Save the Date. Be sure to make your hotel arrangements for your guests so you can include it for all of your out of town guests. Check out these fun s... |
We’ve been having a blast designing wedding invitations, so we thought we would expand our creativity to save the dates! We’ve posted four save the dates in the download section; Words, Hearts, Numbers, and Flourish. We hope you enjoy these as much as we did making them! Have a great weekend!... |
Save the dates are informal notices sent out to guests to “save the date” of your upcoming wedding! Basically, only a few pieces of information are necessary: your names, the date, and city of event. In some cases, the venue is mentioned if already booked. I inform my brides and grooms to send them out about 9-12 months before the big day so that guests are able to plan ahead, request time off from work, and get their flights and hotel rooms booked. Here are some of my favorite ideas that I found while browsing Etsy recently. Las Vegas Luggage Tags Las Vegas map Movie Ticket Vintage P... |
Once we decided that the lace handkerchief paisley design would be our inspiration, I knew that I wanted to put it on all of our print pieces. We started looking at different invitation vendors for a good Save the Date format. I knew that I wanted to include a photo of us, a guide to Greenville, and a schedule of wedding weekend events. We looked a tri-folds and other options, but I wanted to print the photo directly onto the paper instead of having to enclose a real photograph in the packet. We weren’t really able to find everything we needed and all of the vendors we’d found didn’t rea... |
It's time to tell your loved ones about your big day!! Here are some cute and savvy Save The Date ideas!!... |
We were so happy with our engagement pictures that we decided to use them for our save the date cards. A few years ago I received an invitation to a work event in a vellum envelope. I loved how the graphic on the card showed through the crisp envelope. I held on to that invite and thought it’d be fun to do something similar for our save the dates! This is the front and back of our save the date cards. I designed the cards themselves in Illustrator. The little scroll is a vector image that I found on istockphoto. I cannot recommend that site enough, individual designers are able to sell the... |
I figured since this is my first post, it would be appropriate to open up with the first piece of correspondence your guests will receive. (Plus … I am currently working on my own). The purpose of save-the-dates is to inform your guests, especially those who are out of town, of when and where your wedding will take place. This allows them ample time to make travel plans and will hopefully ensure that many of your guests will be able to attend. Save-the-dates are typically sent out 6-9 months before your wedding, but can be sent out earlier if you are getting married during a popular time... |
