If you're willing to scour antique and thrift stores for a whole year, you might just be lucky enough to amass a collection of vases and vessels as nice as Kristina's from Lovely Morning. And then if you have a lot of patience and diligence, you might just be able to create a very unique set of succulent centerpieces for your own wedding or event. The best part? It's a lot more eco-friendly than importing flowers and as Kristina mentions in her blog, each of the little vessels make for great favors for your guests. Fortunately, succulents are pretty easy to maintain and hearty little fellers t... |

In my quest for something "different," I thought about the possibility of using succulents in the wedding for quite awhile at the beginning of the planning process. I landed on hydrangeas instead, but I still love the way succulents look. The colors in the plant above are so soft and pretty, and the texture of the succulents is so fantastic. I could even see these clustered as centerpieces (images from The Martha Blog):Then this morning I came across a wedding shot by Julie Mikos...I've seen succulents used in bouquets before but never quite like this! It's so unique & I really love t... |
Here are a few more photos from Kelly and James' wedding. Kelly is mindful of the environment and elected to use succulents in her floral arrangements. Guests were asked to pull the succulents from the arrangements and take them home.We also used one for James' boutonniere which I think looks fantastic.Succulents are cost-effective and make great multi-seasonal decor. They are also easy to plant. Just stick them in the ground, add a little water, and ta da! - you have a terrific new addition to your garden or flower bed.By no means do I have a green thumb but I have been able to grow these. ... |

Using succulents in weddings is a big trend right now. I really like the unique textural aspect that succulents add to bouquets, boutonnieres, and centerpieces. If you want to use succulents in your wedding, it is a good idea to hire a florist as they are not easy to arrange. Flora Grubb Gardens located in San Francisco are pros at arranging succulents. I am completely enamored by their work. All pictures below from the Flora Grubb Gardens blog. ... |

I've noticed a trend this past year, and I'm not sure if it's on it's way out yet or not: succulents as wedding flowers. Don't get me wrong, I love succulents. But for a wedding? Seems a little cold to me. I prefer a puffy peony or a fragrant lily of the valley or an elegant French tulip or exuberant dahlias.... |
