I figure the best place to start my wedding-planning journey here on Bridal Buds is with the very beginning of every bride-to-be’s journey: the proposal! On the Friday before Christmas 2011, Mr. Snapdragon and I were getting ready to head back to his hometown to spend Christmas with his family. We woke up early to get the car packed, and also to exchange our presents before hitting the road. Now, Mr. Snapdragon had my gifts wrapped and under the tree for a week, and for the life of me I could not figure out what was in these four odd-sized boxes. We traded turns opening presents, and he ... |
Hello Hello Buds and Blossoms! When thinking about what I wanted to share with you after the wedding, the first thing that came to mind was to talk about doing my own flowers, since back when I mentioned here on the blog that I would be doing this, I got some opposition and concerned replies. Let me tell you, my friends, doing my own flowers was awesome. But I agree, not for everyone. Check out the beautiful bouquet! (photo by Elizabeth Monge, Studio Elizabeth) Here’s how it went: I ordered 3 varieties of flowers on fiftyflowers.com about 3 weeks before the wedding to be delivered to our ven... |
I can't tell you how loved I feel! Today, Kathy from KB dropped off a gorgeous bunch of Snapdragons - just because she knew it'd brighten my day! I don't know if she knows this but they are my favorite flower, the sweet smell, the gorgeous stems...simply one of God's most beautiful donations to this Earth - we take for granted. They have been a bright shiney spot in my week!!! Thank you so much Kathy!! Gosh, my friends are the best, my clients are the best! I feel so grateful!!!... |
I expected in the wedding planning process to ask and answer a lot of questions. That’s part of decision making, right? You do a little research, perhaps some googling, and come up with satisfactory answers which leads, eventually, to decision. Done! What I didn’t expect to have to ask, over and over again, is “who I am” as defined in my choices in wedding dresses, music, and flowers. How much does a flower, a song, or a dress really have to say about who I am as a person, and what if I happen to be different things to different people? The Thinker: That's Me! Is this too deep fo... |
Hey gang! I’m Snapdragon Bud, a Milwaukee bride-to-be who couldn’t be more excited to share my journey in planning our super personal, detail-filled and most fabulous day with you all. A little about Mr. Snapdragon and I: First thing’s first – can you believe I’m marrying the boy next door? I moved into my apartment right next door to his in July of 2008. Just a few weeks after moving next door, we hit it off over a love of music and dorky humor and have been laughing and rocking together ever since! We bought our first home together last May and have been adding... |
Still think snapdragons are the floral cousins of Venus fly traps? Silly Bridezilla! Watch this clip of Miss B interviewing the creators of Snapdragon, a twisty new hair product (and neat bridesmaid gift idea) made by twins who studied millinery in Britain. Interesting! ... |
Hello! I am delighted to join this wonderful group of women in the conversation of wedding planning and everything that goes along with it. Let me start my first post telling you about our strange and wonderful story to provide a background for everything that is yet to come: Snapdragon bud & Snapdragon Dude You’ll see in my bio a little bit about how we met. In short, we met in a bar while I was visiting a friend in New York from my home in Boston. And five short months later I left my job and apartment and moved in with him. It was relatively easy for me to make the move– I have alw... |
Photo: Courtesy of Studio222 Photography For a casual New England wedding, like Amy and David's elegant clambake wedding, I love centerpieces that have an equally relaxed vibe. This centerpiece by Greenery Productions features a cheerful mix of snapdragons, spray roses, ranunculuses, and Queen Anne's lace. Vintage handkerchiefs and flamingo ornaments create a fun, lively aesthetic, while pieces of citrus fruit add a refreshing summery fragrance to the arrangement. Browse more floral arrangements in our Wedding Centerpieces Gallery in our gallery, and visit our local vend... |
Evergreen Bouquet I harvested my first batch of evergreens today. I had so much fun making these beautiful seasonal bouquets. Evergreens are so rich in texture, color and fragrance that they are perfect for bouquets. Evergreens are extremely hardy and will not wilt. In fact, fresh cut evergreens will last weeks, sometimes months. This bouquet was created with boxwood, blue spruce, cryptomeria, and ewe bush. To keep it subtle and clean, we did not use fresh flowers. I added pods and kiwi vine to make the bouquet interesting. This bouquet would be perfect for a late fall wedding, all the way t... |
