Ever wonder how the tradition of the bridal shower was started? Some say it stemmed from early dowry practices. Many times the bride and her family did not have enough money for the necessary dowry or the Father of the Bride did not approve of the marriage. The family and friends of the bride would "shower" her with gifts. This allowed her to have items to set up her new home with her husband. It was considered at one time bad etiquette for family members to throw the BRIDAL SHOWER. However, now the BRIDAL SHOWER may be thrown by anyone - with the exception of the BRIDAL couple. Photography by Kryssi Patel There are some of the highlights from my bridal shower. It was gorgeous! Since there will not be any pink in our wedding, I requested a super girly, tea party-esque, pink bridal shower! Did my friends and family deliver or what?! My bridesmaid Kryssi Patel was the photographer. I was blown away by all the little details: * strawberry and lemon ice cubes for the homemade lemonade * candy pink painted vases with pearl designs * powder sugar stenciled hearts on the brownies * tiny pink picture frames with our engagement photos * shrubs pruned into hearts * homemade scr... |
My bridal shower was this past Saturday and I don’t even know where to begin. It was everything I hoped it would be and more! Seriously, I knew that it would be a great time, but I just couldn’t have imagined it going any better than it did! This is a long, picture-heavy post but I have so much to share! We arrived at The Buckeye Tavern a little after 11:00am. The place has such awesome decor as it is, we didn’t have a whole lot of setting up to do. Here’s me with the two hostess(ess) with the mostess(ess), my sister and mom! Maid of Honor: Melissa, Mom and me! My dad had pri... |
I’ll be honest, I really did not want a bridal shower. I’m so not comfortable with being the center of attention. All that attention on the wedding day itself is more than enough for me. I told my matron of honor that I did not want a shower, and she has respected my wishes. However, my cousin very much wanted to throw a shower for family and family-friends. I couldn’t say no. So Lotus Dude and I drove to Ohio for the shower last weekend. And you know what? It wasn’t as bad as I thought it would be. Yes, there were silly games and a hat made out of bows and ribbons. Having tea and scones at my bridal shower in New Jersey today! Happy Saturday! :)... |
Here are a few photos from my bridal shower tea at the The Olde Mill Inn in New Jersey (thanks to Laura for the pictures!). A lot of people came from really far away--New York City, Long Island, upstate New York, Boston, Philadelphia, Washington DC--and it was the most wonderful day!... |
My sister/MOH emailed me about setting up a shower for me over the next few months. From partyinvitationsblog.com Immediately, I started to feel panic over being the center of attention at a party. I’m not really into the whole open-presents-and-oh-and-ah thing either. I never really liked this idea at a birthday party, and at least then, you haven’t registered for gifts! I’ve recently been feeling like throwing out some wedding “musts” and I know we’ve discussed it here before, but now, I’m faced with the decision. Do I insist on not having one, or do I go along with it? I’m a... |
I attended a lovely bridal shower this weekend...one of my *new* friends is getting hitched in a few short weeks....sooooo exciting!!I haven't attended ooodles of showers...a few...and my own of course. I like showers - getting a little dressed up...picking out a gift for my friend...mingling with nice ladies...and watching the bride-to-be in all of her glowing excitement. I had fun at this shower - it reminded me of how much fun I had at my shower last spring (and it made me miss my friends back home!) My gift to the bride was a Megan Hamilton sketch of her jaw-dropping GLOR... |
I absolutely LOVE this Bridal Shower idea. Why? Because it involves cupcakes {by The Cupcake Collection} + truffles {by Crumb de La Crumb} + champagne… oh, and some chicken salad too. But mostly I just love the desserts + the champagne. Look how fabulous this Bridal Shower is, put together by the always talented Tiffani with Creative Designs & Events. The gorgeous dessert bar was definitely the centerpiece of this shower, but the box lunches which had custom menu labels were also quite the show-stopper. The favors? Handmade sugar scrub to use during your next bubble bath! Each detail wa... |
