Last week I wrote about the overview of the day, how we hope it will pan out. We now move on to filling in some of the details in more depth. As the wedding is still over 4 months away, some of the details are still in progress but I will start with the things which are pretty much sorted. So, the bridesmaids. I said last week that I have chosen to have three adult bridesmaids: my two younger sisters and my older sister-in-law-to-be. I usually refer to them as A1, A2 and T on my blog but I had some feedback that this was rather confusing. Short of giving them fake names, this seemed to be the ... |
I am in love with this navy bridesmaids dress from JCrew: Hopefully the price will come down about a hundred dollars or I can find a good knockoff. I am also in love with these green roses for the bridesmaids bouquet. I think the green would be a great accent to the navy dresses. My original plan was to go with a bouquet of green orchids, but I like the simplicity of the roses. I had an inspiration board all ready to go, but the formatting is still a little off. I think it might come down to printing it off, scanning it in, and THEN posting it. ... |

We love a good wedding movie, and can't wait to see Bridesmaids, the new film from the producers of hit comedies Knocked Up and Superbad. We all know weddings are a time of careful planning and preparation, and when Annie's (Kristen Wiig) best friend asks her to be maid of honour, Annie gracefully accepts. Although Annie is lovelorn and broke, she does her best to lead a cast of "colourful" bridesmaids (Rose Byrne, Melissa McCarthy, Wendi McLendon-Covey and Ellie Kemper) on the wild journey towards the big day. If Knocked Up and Superbad are anything to go by, Bridesmaids is set to be a hilar... |
Pretty bridesmaids all lined up in a row. God bless your girlfriends who stand up for you, the Bride. They agree to all wear the dress, the one you have picked for them. They all agree to dance, at least once, with one of the groomsmen. They all secretly wonder whether they want to catch the bouquet toss, and wonder who will.Bridesmaids. Good stand-up girls, the ones you want be there, no matter what you ask them to eat, or how you ask them to fix their hair. It's a lonely position they fit into, watching you the Bride. Are they in love too? Will they by chance me... |
Bridesmaids! I’m curious. Did you have them in your wedding? How many did you have? Did you buy them a gift? If so, what did you buy them? How did you ask them to be your bridesmaid? Did they wear the same color or different colors? Were their dresses the same length or different? Please comment now. I know many of my readers will LOVE to hear your comments. Help a bride out. Oh! I almost forgot. Check out my bridesmaids from our wedding in 1992! I even had a miniature bride. She was adorable and recently was engaged! I wonder if she wants me to be her miniature bride? Okay, comment now… ... |

At long last I have chosen a bridesmaid dress! My beautiful 7 ladies will no longer fear walking down the aisle with nothing on as the decision has been made! I must admit it was not an easy task; it took over 500 miles of driving, trying on over 25 dresses, and 3 very patient b'maids (who put up with all of my finickiness over fabrics and colors and sheen - thank you )but it is finally DONE. One more thing checked off the list! Surprisingly, it is not navy, and not even chocolate brown (which I thought for sure would be my runner up choice); I actually chose a p... |
A few readers have requested I post about my favorite bridesmaids dresses so I'm aiming to please! Above are two of my absolute faves - both from Lula Kate, they are the Elle and Caroline styles, respectively. Made of Silk Dupioni (the best material for special occasions in my book!), these killer dresses could easily be worn after the wedding for a multitude of events. Lula Kate also offers their dresses in about 24 fetching colors ... I chose the almond color in both because that's the shade I would choose!I also think it's a great idea to look at non-bridesmaid apparel. You can often find j... |
Hey ladies, you have your dress bought and you even survived the Bridal Shower, but you still have work to do! Did you plan that Bachelorette party yet?! What kind of girl is your bride? Does she like spas, nature, sports, or maybe partying? Forgo the strippers, try something she will be able to remember with a smile on her face (and not an embarrassed one). What about a relaxing day at the spa, pamper her and yourselves! There are many great spas that offer packages for brides and their parties, give one a call and see what they have to offer.
