For some reason, looking at wedding desserts makes our hearts flutter more than anything else. We love the look of a stylish and classic looking dessert table, a beautifully made cake, and the other little details involved in presenting the desserts. Over at Style Me Pretty they recently posted a blog with some gorgeous photos of one dessert table in particular that made us both drool and swoon, all at once. Photography by Olivia Leigh. Cakes and desserts are a major focus for the event. The cake can add to the aesthetic, and create an additional design element. The wedding cake does not need to be elaborate or complicated. Over the past few years, we have been recommending dessert tables, scattered with old-fashioned cakes, pies, and treats. Also, recently for summer weddings, we have been recommending gelato and Italian ice carts. This past weekend, our clients had an ice cream cake in addition to the dessert bar. They topped the cake with “bride & groom” rubber ducks. We also like the idea of the self-serve dessert... |
Well it appears that there is still a love affair with Dessert Tables. However, the consensus is they are changing. Here are a few of my favorites from the past year. Each one different, embracing the clients style, taste, and personality. Rustic and vintage, yet surprisingly chic. This sweet table was set at a ranch where burlap, old cupcake tins, and heirloom pieces were used. Sweets included: cheesecake bites, French macarons, chocolate lollicakes, blueberries, Bavarian filled cupcakes, and a sweet vintage cake for the bride and groom to cut. Set in the most glamorous and grand Vi... |
A trend started by the great Amy Atlas in NYC, dessert bars are all the rage--at least they are in the blogging world. However, I feel like this great trend still hasn't really hit the Pacific NW. Trying to find a dessert bar vendor in my home state of Oregon seems to be a devilish task. After scouring Google I only found one vendor-- who while extremely tasty (I've eaten one of their desserts before) is also extremely expensive. So I'm calling out to any of my Oregon or SW Washington readers who might know of or have previously used a vendor to create their own dessert bar. Please comment bel... |
And no I don’t mean a chocolate fountain that you put on a table with marshmallows and fruit…although that is awesome. Of course it’s nice to have your centerpiece four-tier cake, covered in white fondant, but lets be real, who remembers those flavors you spent an hour arguing over…Enter: the dessert table. On the day of your nuptials, you want everything around you to be a representation of the both of you and what you have shared. And, let us hope that you have exchanged your favorite sweet treats. Take an old wooden table and cover it with blondie bars, caramel filled b... |

Sincerely, besides the food that you have prepared for your guests there’s also room for something sweet in order to make the “frame” complete and this is why we decided to take into account the topic concerning desserts for a wedding. Primarily, when it comes to such “details” you usually think of wedding cakes. Yes, wedding cakes need to be considered and in the same time you have to apply for deserts as well in case you don’t care too much when it comes to the money spent. You know if you buy these sweets you’re going to pay some extra money. That’s why we were thinking th... |
