Baking and Decorating Cupcakes – A Sweet Engagement Session

categories: engagement session
This sweet engagement session came to us from Henry and Masci Photography. Janel and Aaron are real foodies! Janel is a Registered Dietitian, so it made perfect sense that the shoot would take place in the kitchen! They wanted to keep it “sweet” so they used cookies, cupcakes, and cakes in the shape of wedding items, such as rings, hearts and mini wedding cakes. After baking and decorating, they moved to a picnic where the treats were enjoyed by all! I especially love the shot of the ring circling the spoon!

Engage10 Luxury Wedding Summit Day 3 Recap

categories: Engage10 Tags:
Day 3 started off with breakout sessions. We were given a choice of 4 sessions to attend. I chose Sean Low’s, Maria McBride’s , and an editor’s panel moderated by Michelle Rago with Lara Casey from Southern Weddings Magazine, Carol Poon from Bride and Bloom Magazine, Marilyn from Inside Weddings, Brooke from Weddings Unveiled, Susan from Destination Weddings & Honeymoons and Shira Savada from Martha Stewart Weddings.
Afternoons were spent on our own – I played with the kids and networked a bit more while my sweet husband spent it uploading our new Inspiration Engine iPad App onto people’s iPads! We’re so excited that it was so well received and can’t wait for it to finally launch!
Then, it was time to get ready for the gala. To say that we were all blown away by the decor that wasn’t there at 2:30 when we walked through the ballroom was an understatement. They transformed the entire room into THIS in less than 4 hours:

I ended up sitting between Shira Savada from Martha Stewart Weddings and Amy Atlas! Ceci Johnson from Ceci New York, Amen from Zanadu Group, were also with us. I was truly humbled by all the talent at the table. We were all wowed by the gastronomical delights that were bestowed upon us. A seafood selection of caviar, lobster, crab, and jumbo shrimp was displayed on a carved ice sculpture uplit by an LED. Delicious Chilean seabass followed as the main course and then we were spoiled by a gigantic ice cream sundae that was large enough to feed a small village.
All in all, it was a life changing event. I came away with potential partnerships that I could only have dreamt of. Engage10 put us all in one room and allowed us to bond on a level that no other conference has ever been able to reproduce. I can’t wait for Engage11! It can get here soon enough!

Engage10: Luxury Business Summit Day 2

Day 2 started out with a buffet style breakfast that was once again, over the top! We dined al fresco in the Mediterranean Courtyard on a gourmet selection of oatmeal brulee, fruit and yogurt served on spoons, mini skillets of eggs scrambled with sausage and peppers, and banana beignets.

After breakfast, we convened in the Venetian Room where we spent the morning with some of the industry’s best speakers.
The Breakers Venetian Room
Paul Leone, the President of The Breakers introduced us to the property, the history behind of the Breakers, and why they are absolutely committed to making sure service is top notch. Rebecca Grinnals followed with a State of the Wedding Industry. She touched on points about how time is the new luxury, that brides are immersed in technology and blogs, and how direct mail is not dead even in new age of media.
Mindy Weiss spoke on the good, the bad, and the ugly of the wedding industry. She was utterly hilarious! Here are some tidbits of her speech: unique locations are HOT, lanterns can be fit into any budget and look great, unique table sizes are in, you can NEVER run out of food, Morrocan and ethnic themes are hot and colors bring a lot of energy to weddings.
Mindy Weiss The Breakers Engage10
Tara Guerard, David Beahm, and Todd Fiscus were up next as a panel. They each have a unique design approach yet it works for their brides. Amazing designs from each of them – loved their presentation as each of them were quite funny! Takeaway tidbits: A great photographer is one of the best investments in your wedding, Inspiration is everybody’s information but do it your way, and weddings in the round, surrounded by family/friends are very trendy.
One of my favorite presentations came next from Cindy Novotny. She was absolutely amazing and funny! I think I connected with her best because I’m not a wedding planner nor vendor. I love all the pretty things but I’m not involved in them on a day to day basis. I’m more involved in marketing and bringing bleeding edge technology to the wedding industry. Cindy says, Keep your passion moving by creating more business, Neither strength nor intelligence is the key to unlocking your potential, it is the ability to keep going, Tough times create matchless opportunities. When business is bad, you do more to survive, and the careers that will exist tomorrow don’t even exist today!
Lunch was served in the famous Circle Room where we were wowed once again with boxed lunches. Yes, boxed lunches. But inside these gorgeous boxes with a handmade clay flower by DK Designs was a lobster hoagie, gazpagcho, deviled eggs, truffled fries, and a mini wedding cake. The entire room was dressed to the nines and Sylvia Weinstock impressed us all with her cake decorating skills.

After lunch, we had the pleasure of laughing with Marcy Blum She mused: If you cannot sell a client without throwing your competitor under the bus, there’s something wrong with your business, do your own PR, and if it’s free, it needs to be disclosed.

Next was a panel lead by Martha Stewart Weddings editor-in-chief Darcy Miller, who spoke with Amy Atlas, Abby Larson, and lifestyle photographer Donna Newman. Carley Roney, founder of The Knot moderated the next panel of http://www.kleinfeldbridal.com/ and stationery designer Ceci Johnson of CECI New York
Our final presentation of the day was from Bryan Rafanelli of Rafanelli Events. He was one AMAZING speaker! He planned Chelsea Clinton’s wedding this past summer. He simply plans PERFECT and will not settle for anything less.

Engage10 Luxury Wedding Business Summit at The Breakers Part 1

Wow. I don’t even know where to begin. I attended Engage10 for the first time and really didn’t know what to expect. I went hoping to network with the best and brightest in the industry but I was completely blown away by how high the bar was set, not only for other industry events but future Engage’s as well! Egos were checked at the door and everyone had a chance to learn from each other. It was held at The Breakers in Palm Beach, FL and for 3 days, we were spoiled beyond belief (yes, this is work!) The decor was over the top gorgeous in lime and hot pink. Not a single detail was left out. A HUGE thank you to Rebecca Grinnals and Kathryn Arce and the awesome team at The Breakers for putting this whole conference together. From the world class speakers to the gala, my mind is still reeling from it all!
