July 4th Patriotic Wedding – Red White and Fabulous!

I came across this lovely 4th of July wedding the other day and had to feature it even though it’s over a year old. It’s theme was Red, White, and Fabulous and it really is. The elements are classic and can easily stand the test of time. The details are gorgeous – I love how the whole reception was white and pops of blue and red were incorporated throughout. The wedding was designed by my friend Isabella from Florabella and photographed by the talented Liz Banfield

Beautiful Hindu Wedding Ceremony

This blog is brought to you by our amazing intern Jackie!
This gorgeous Hindu Wedding Ceremony was captured by Jennifer Kathryn of Jennifer Kathryn Photography in Chicago. I love the intricate details on the bride’s Saree and the groom’s Sherwani. The ceremony sparkled with bright shades of reds and greens, complimented by jewels and gold accents. A few words from Jennifer about the couple:
I don’t know if it was Megha’s beauty and her sparkling laughter that first caught Cameron’s eye, or if it was her incredible balance between a fierce determination and extraordinary kindness. And it’s hard to say whether it was the way Cameron could always make her laugh or if it was his genuineness and honesty that initially drew Megha to him. But when they began studying together virtually every day, it didn’t take long for the two to realize these were only a few among the many qualities they valued in one another. They decided to move their dates beyond the library walls, and soon Megha was being schooled in the ways of beer pong while Cameron was broadening his palate to include Indian and Thai cuisine. That summer their relationship stood through the test of Cameron’s long hours at his new job. He said he’ll never forget the day Megha was helping him move out of his old apartment, and his buddy looked over at him and said, “Cameron, she’s a keeper.” He knew he had truly found a special connection in Megha. Six years later, Cameron asked Megha’s father for his blessing, and that same weekend she said yes. It only takes a few minutes with them to see how strong their adoration for one another is. Coming from two entirely different backgrounds has only served to strengthen their devotion, and it was moving to see their two families embrace one another wholeheartedly.
The ceremony was held at the BAPS Shri Swaminarayan Mandir, which was adorned with exquisite architectural details and lush water fountains. The flowers and decorations by BAPS Shri Swaminarayan Mandir were stunning. I love this wedding with it’s beautiful palette of colors.

Elegant Garden Wedding in Childhood Home

Evantine Designs is one of my favorite wedding event planners. I love Melissa’s attention to detail and that she’s so easy to work with makes it even better. She’s making a trip out to San Diego this week, so I can’t wait to meet her in person! This charming wedding took place at Abby’s gorgeous childhood home. Abby and Andrew make such a gorgeous couple. I simply can’t get enough of her Oscar de la Renta wedding gown. I’ll let Melissa describe this gorgeous wedding - I wouldn’t be able to do it justice myself.
Sophisticated At-Home Wedding Abby Andrew Evantine Design
What is it exactly about at-home weddings that makes them so endearingly special? Perhaps it’s that they’re an extension of the home itself; a throwback to a time when all family celebrations were shared year-after-year under the same roof and within the same walls. Or, is it the lure of the garden you’ve grown with and wandered through as a child? Whatever the reason, weddings in your own home are, well, simply put, incredible.
Without a doubt, Abby and Andrew’s Main Line Philadelphia wedding was all about elegance and tradition. From the creamy satin bow on the back of Abby’s sweet floral Oscar de la Renta gown to the subtle styling of Andrew’s white orchid boutonniere, the wedding design was classically appointed and thoughtfully detailed.
Choosing to forgo the formality of a structured bridal party, Abby invited her dearest girlfriends to share in her bridal preparations in a more casual and relaxed manner. Gathering at The Rittenhouse for a fortifying brunch and stress-beating spa treatments kept the atmosphere light and focused. The joyful mood in the bridal suite proved contagious as Abby and Andrew traveled the city with photographer, Marie Labbancz, shooting candid wedding photos at one historic location after another. Abby’s only accessory was her handsome groom Andrew – no bridal bouquet or veil was needed for the couple photos taken in Center City.
Sophisticated At-Home Wedding
From the moment guests turned into the drive at Abby’s childhood home, they were greeted by the lovely traditional face of an English country manor. Perfectly situated amongst tall evergreens and towering walnut trees, the residence couldn’t have been more ideal for an elegant garden wedding. Softening every rough edge in the landscape, wedding planner and event designer, Brian Kappra, made sure to plant shrubs and flowers in waiting floral beds for a festive welcome.
With its rich wall-to-wall mahogany wood paneling, the couple chose the formal living room as the ceremony location. Dark wood chivari ballroom chairs with ivory satin cushions were carefully lined up to create a simple aisle to the ceremony “stage” placed against the French doors. A dark iron chuppah frame was naturally-adorned with moss, leaves, roses, orchids, smilax, hydrangea, stock, snap dragon, seeded eucalyptus and lilies. Following traditional etiquette guidelines, the bride and groom seated guests to each chair in the ceremony setting to ensure elders and honored guests were given the best and most appropriate seats.
Cocktails took place throughout the lovely home using familiar rooms and spaces originally designed for entertaining. With its wrap-around Pennsylvania fieldstone terraces. the favored spot for socializing was most certainly the patio off the living room. Peachtree and Ward Catering provided tables of delicious tapas-style foods to sample while their waiters butlered silver trays of champagne and stylish hors d’oeuvres throughout the house.
Sophisticated At-Home Wedding
Having dreamt of a “formal garden wedding with magical twinkly lights” since she was a young girl, it was Abby’s heartfelt wish to walk into the dinner tent and see them in some fashion. In his usual “if you’re going to do it, do it BIG” fashion, Brian made sure to envelope the entire dinner tent in lights, fabric, flowers, candles and vines. The soft ivory and taupe color palette evoked the feeling of weathered stone urns found in the home’s garden. Modern silk shantung linens in traditional damask and stripe patterns alternated on tables across the room. Mixed ivory, soft green and warm gold bouquets of garden roses, hydrangea, lilies, lisianthus, stock, hypericum and orchids were placed in low crystal compotes and high faceted glass vases. Distressed ivory iron candelabra held floral arrangements and thick pillar candles high overhead. On each table top, vintage accessories in rubbed gold and sterling silver added the finishing touches.
A family occasion meant to last into the wee hours, we placed our mahogany bar along one wall and situated groupings of comfortable brown leather furniture nearby. As the evening progressed, and guests began to collect and drape on chairs and sofas as they would in the living room, Peachtree rolled out our dark wood cheese carts with sweet bites, coffee and cheeses for a little pick-me-up. As expected, the bride and groom were almost the last to leave the party having thoroughly enjoyed sharing their day with their family and friends in such a beautifully warm fashion.

Winter Wonderland Wedding at The Union League of Philadelphia

This stunningly gorgeous wedding was designed by Evantine Design in Philadelphia. It is one of the most spectacular winter weddings I’ve ever seen with not one detail left out. From the gorgeous couple to the lovely menu card, you’re not going to want to even blink for a second!
It was love at first sight for Lauren and Matt. But during a Will Farrell show at Radio City? Bet stranger things have happened. Celebrating their first anniversary this Sunday, Lauren and Matt chose two historic venues in Philadelphia for their sparkling holiday wedding.
The Philadelphia skyline as seen from the steps of the Philadelphia Museum of Art provides a heady spot for formal group photographs. “Rocky” jokes aside, what better location in Philadelphia offers such dramatic vistas and playful platforms? Particularly if you time the formal photography window to twilight hours as Phil Kramer and Tangerine did for Lauren and Matt. The bride’s choice of sophisticated mermaid gowns, mink wraps and vibrant red bouquets for her bridesmaids brings thoughts of Hollywood costume designer Edith Head to mind. Lauren’s classic Carolina Herrera gown, white mink shrug and glittering bangle bracelet gave her already incandescent glow that extra bit of glamour and elegance every bride yearns for on her wedding day. Not to be out done, Matt and his groomsmen, in their impeccably tailored tuxedos and hand-tied bow ties, illustrated that the “boys” could create their own confident fashion statement. Subtle elegant accessories, pocket squares, glossy dress shoes and tastefully-sized boutonnieres were all they needed! Seriously, what manly-man needs a coat and scarf on a cold December day?

Real Wedding: Castle Green, Pasadena – Angela & James

Nina of Love and Lemonade is hands down one of my favorite wedding photographers to work with. She’s super friendly, talented, and sends over perfectly edited photographs in a jiffy. Nina – We still have to meet up for coffee soon! I’ll let her tell the story of Angela and Jame’s beautiful wedding at the Castle Green in Pasadena, CA.
Dark clouds covered the morning sky and it appeared rain would be imminent. But it wouldn’t dare rain. Not on Angi and James’s wedding day. Not on the wedding day of one of the happiest couples. And their sunny disposition was obviously infectious – because the clouds parted and the sun came out to celebrate the joyous occasion.
I came to adore Angi & James after I shot their engagement session and got to spend an entire afternoon with them. Needless to say, I was very much looking forward to shooting their wedding. Just like Angi & James, their wedding was fun, unique, classy, and just…lovely. With friends and family from Canada and Korea and other corners of the world coming together to celebrate the couple, you can’t help but wonder if any 2 people are loved as much as them.
Angi & James, to hear your story and the journey it took for you to finally end up in the same country together, I have no doubt that good things…no, great things…are in store for your next chapter. From the bottom of my heart, I wish you a happy marriage that will continue to be filled with much laughter. Because you deserve it. Because you are…lovely.

Real Wedding: Los Angeles, CA Judith & Enoth – Lovisa Han Photography

I just fell in love with this wedding! Every detail was beautifully captured and the color scheme was just classic. Loved the cream colored peonies, white, pink, and blush roses, and the love that emanates from the photos.
Judith and Enoth met in grade school and discovered that ironically their grandparents had met 40 years earlier in Korea and were close friends. They were destined to be married! Judith + Enoth. Some things are just meant to be…

Wish Upon A Wedding

n174297701696_3821
This week, wedding bloggers as a collective group are trying to raise awareness for a wonderful organization that grants terminally ill brides a wedding that they deserve.
From their site:
Wish Upon A Wedding was founded based on the concept that two people in love should never be denied the chance to marry their soul mate, even if they only have months (or weeks) to live. The idea came to me when I was producing a large scale wedding giveaway in San Francisco valued at over $100,000.00. Over 350 couples entered to win, and I found myself wishing there was an opportunity to donate this to more than just one deserving couple. Stories of financial ruin due to overwhelming health care bills were prominent, and instilled in me a sense of urgency to do something positive.
As a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization, Wish Upon a Wedding’s primary purpose is to serve as a charitable foundation. Dedicated to providing weddings and civil union ceremonies at destinations across the United States, we grant one of the most profound moments in a couple’s lifetime, the celebration of love. By bringing these ceremonies to individuals faced with terminal illnesses, we believe that other people facing similar situations will find their own sense of hope.”
Three different wish packages are available depending on the condition of the patient and whether or not they can travel:
